DAVID JONES AND EVERYMAN’S WILD WALES

Forty-five years after its first appearance, George Borrow’s Wild Wales entered Everyman’s Library in 1906. It had an introduction by the veteran man of letters Theodore Watts-Dunton, whose main qualification for the job was that he had known Borrow in his latter days, had walked and talked with him in Richmond Park, had played Boswell to the old man’s Johnson. His introduction is less about Wild Wales than about Borrow himself.
