THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE OPPOSITION TO THE GREAT WAR IN WALES

This paper considers the significance of the peace movement in Wales during the First World War, and how it developed after 1919 as a wider-based alliance of pacifists and those who opposed war on political and moral grounds. This alliance gradually broke down under the pressure of world events, but not before a truly impressive and widely based anti-war movement had emerged by the beginning of the 1930s.
