DESIGNING WALES: AN ARCHIVE FOR WELSH ARCHITECTURE
Many archives exist that can potentially support the understanding of Welsh architecture. These are dispersed through architectural practices, personal papers and a wide range of archival repositories, in Wales and beyond. This paper discusses the kinds of material available, their uses and their significance as part of Wales’ cultural memory. It describes the recent initiative led by the Royal Society of Architects in Wales to establish an Architectural Archives Advisory Panel that can coordinate the architectural and archival professions, raise awareness and ensure that material of enduring value is not lost.
