Wales and the Sea: Some New Archaeological Perspectives

January 28, 2020, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Speaker: Dr Mark Rednap, Head of Collections & Research, Department of History and Archaeology, National Museum Wales

Wales has always been part of an international maritime community, and its marine area covers a larger area than the land. This lecture explores the diversity of this common inheritance, with a focus on the new knowledge coming out of recent archaeological discoveries, including the Viking-age sword guard from The Smalls, the Ann Francis lost at Aberafan in 1583, and the legendary ‘Dollar wreck’ on Rhossili Bay, Gower.
