Robert John

Born in Llantrisant Robert John is a senior executive with a proven track record in finance, property and regeneration with board experience both in the public and private sectors.

He obtained his degree at Cambridge University and was called to the bar in 1972 prior to a 14 year period in the City working for major US and UK banks. In 1987 he was up appointed Deputy Chief Executive of the Canary Wharf group. Between 1992 and 1995 he was a partner at KPMG before returning to Canary Wharf as senior advisor to the chairman and chief executive.

Since 2004 he has been a board member of and advisor to a series of company. Currently a board member of Music Theatre Wales ; an advisor to Actis, a major PE firm, on their property business in sub-Saharan Africa and an advisor to Tidal Lagoon Power. Formerly he was Chair of Wales in London (2007-13) and remains as a Board member; a board member of the Wales Millennium Centre and a founder director of Cardiff and Co. He joined The Board of the Honourable Society in 2015.

He is a Wilkins fellow of Downing College, Cambridge (2013); received an honorary doctorate from Swansea University (2014) and was awarded an honorary Fellowship of Cardiff Metropolitan University (2015).
