Dr Rottgen is a member of Germany’s Christian Democratic Union, the Chairman of the Bundestag’s Committee on Foreign Affairs and formerly the Federal Minister of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety for the German government.
Entertained will be provided by the young Welsh singer Steffan Hughes, a 21 year old tenor from Denbighshire. As well as having a rich folk music background, he is a trained classical singer. He has recently graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Music Degree (Hons) from Cardiff University, studying with the renowned Soprano, Gail Pearson. During his time there, he received the Sir Geraint Evans prize twice for outstanding vocal performances. Last year, as well as winning the Lady Herbert Lewis memorial Prize at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in August, Steffan was also a finalist in the Bryn Terfel Scholarship competition in October. His intention in the near future is to continue with his Vocal studies by applying for a place on a Postgraduate course at a Conservatoire.
